Conor Turner 2nd in World Ice Championships

January 8th 2017

Conor Turner poses with his Prize after coming 2nd in the World Ice Swimming Championships

North Dublin member, Conor Turner, was in action this past weekend at the World Ice Swimming Championships in Berghausen, Germany, where he was representing Ireland. Conor finished in a very respectable 2nd place in the 1KM event.

Ice Swimming is one of the latest crazes in aquatic sports. The swims are only considered "Ice Swims" if the water is 5°C or less. Only the hardiest of folk take part and it is certainly not for the faint hearted.

Conor was only beaten by former professional/Olympian, Petar Stoychev, who set a World Record on the day of 12:15. Conor managed a very impressive 12:42 to just pip former professional/Olympian, Rostilav Vitek, to 2nd place.

An absolutely cracking effort by Conor. Needless to say everyone in North Dublin is extremely proud of Conor and what he has achieved this past weekend. Now for a warm bath Conor!
