It was a mixed day of results for North Dublin in the Leinster Cup Finals with the Division 3 side beating St. Vincents 7-2 and the D2 side losing to St. Vincents 5-7.

 

With the Seniors beaten in the Semi Finals, all eyes were on our D3 and D2 Leinster League sides as they took to their respective Leinster Cup Finals. It was a first final for our D3 side but the D2 side are more than familiar with this final.

 

Up first was our D3 side. A good mix of youth and experience, the lads took an early lead and never really looked back. Our younger players showed real maturity and produced great performances, especially Matthew Linehan in goal who earned Man of The Match for his efforts. The pattern throughout was straight forward. North Dublin would grab a goal, Matthew would produce a great save, repeat. In the end, they ran out 7-2 winners to claim their 1st Leinster silverware as a team.

 

The D2 team were looking to retain their title against a talented young St. Vincents side. This game produced a much tighter affair and in truth was an excellent game to watch purely for the tension that a close game of this nature produces. In the end a number of errors and a lack of a cutting edge up front for North Dublin was our undoing and Vincents ran out 7-5 winners. A tough defeat but our lads gave it everything.

 

Well done to the D3 lads and commisserations to the D2 team. Two great finals and two solid team performances.
